JDRF Advocacy brings together people everyday who have diabetes, or a connection to someone with diabetes, who are interested in making their voices heard.

When it comes to fighting diabetes, there is strength in numbers.  JDRF is working together to build bonds among those who are personally affected by diabetes with their Member of Parliament (MP).  These relationships strengthen our community, provide support for those who are living with diabetes, and deliver our message – the need for a cure and the need to accelerate the pace of research through funding from our Federal Government.

JDRF’s Government Relations Program was established in 1998. There are three main areas of focus for 2010.

  1. Increase diabetes awareness, particularly type 1 diabetes.
  2. Actively participate in the legislative decision making process as it affects diabetes research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications.
  3. Increase the amount of money the federal government gives to diabetes research to find a cure for diabetes.

With your help by becoming a JDRF Advocate, the voice of JDRF is even stronger in increasing awareness of diabetes and ultimately securing funding from the federal government to accelerate the pace of research to find a cure!
